2026 IU Goyang Concert Official Cancellation & Summary#

The solo concert by IU (아이유) at the Goyang Stadium Main Stadium (고양종합운동장 주경기장), originally scheduled for September 2026, has been officially cancelled. On July 20, 2026, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced the cancellation alongside the postponement of her 6th regular album, following medical advice that the intense physical movement and heavy sweating required for a large-scale stadium show would be too strenuous for her recovery from worsening patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction (이관개방증).

Although the concert will not take place, the transport and local area guides prepared below are maintained as a reference for fans planning visits to Goyang Stadium for future events or subsequent concerts.

Travel Times from Key Departure Points#

Here are the recommended public transit routes and estimated travel times from major transport hubs in Seoul to Goyang Stadium. We highly recommend using the subway over buses, as road traffic around the stadium can be highly unpredictable.

Starting PointRecommended Transit RouteEst. One-Way TimeTransfersEst. One-Way Fare
Seoul StationLine 4 → Transfer to Line 3 at Chungmuro Station → Alight at Daehwa Station → Exit 3 → Walk to Stadium~60 min11,650 KRW

Incheon AirportAirport Railroad (AREX) Local → Transfer to Seohae Line at Gimpo Airport Station → Transfer to Line 3 at Daegok Station → Alight at Daehwa Station~87 min2~7,500 KRW
  • Closest Subway Station: Daehwa Station (대화역) on Subway Line 3. From Exit 3 (3번 출구) to the stadium’s East Gate is a flat, easy walk of about 650m, taking roughly 10 minutes.

Where to Wait & Eat Before the Show#

The inside of the Goyang Stadium main grounds will be extremely crowded on concert day, with very little seating. If you arrive 2~3 hours before the show, we recommend waiting in these nearby areas:

  1. Daehwa Station Area (10~15 min walk): Packed with local restaurants and franchise cafes. Very convenient for a quick meal, but most spots fill up completely starting 3 hours before showtime.
  2. KINTEX Exhibition Centers 1 & 2 (20~25 min walk): Features spacious food courts, restaurants, and large cafes. The interior is spacious and provides a much more comfortable environment to rest.
  3. Juyeop Station & Ilsan Garosugil (approx. 20 min walk): Juyeop Station (one stop down on Line 3) and the Garosugil shopping complex southwest of the stadium are generally less crowded, making them great spots for a relaxed meal.

Luggage Storage & On-Site Facilities#

Because personal cars are restricted from parking near the venue, public transit is mandatory. Visitors with suitcases or large backpacks must plan their luggage storage in advance.

  • Luggage Storage: There are no permanent luggage storage facilities inside Goyang Stadium. The nearest lockers are located inside Daehwa Station (대화역), but the number of lockers is extremely limited and they usually sell out during the morning hours on concert days. We strongly recommend storing heavy luggage at your departure station (e.g., Seoul Station lockers) before heading to the venue.
  • Convenience Stores & Restrooms: Convenience stores near the stadium face massive queues starting 2 hours before the concert. Buy water and snacks before you enter the Ilsan district. While restrooms are available at Daehwa Station and around the stadium, wait times are exceptionally long.

Leaving the Venue: Daehwa Station Crowd Bypass Detours#

When the concert ends, tens of thousands of attendees head toward Daehwa Station at once, creating a severe bottleneck at the entrances. You might have to wait 40 minutes just to enter the gates. Having a detour plan is highly recommended.

  • Subway Line 3 Last Train (Weekdays):
    • To Central Seoul (Chungmuro/Jongno direction): 22:58 (Dogok-bound) and 23:18 (Apgujeong-bound, no Line 4 transfer available).
    • To Samsong: 23:42
    • To Gupabal: 00:08
  • Walk to Juyeop Station (Recommended): Instead of queuing at Daehwa Station, walk about 1.5 km (approx. 20 minutes) along the main road to Juyeop Station (주엽역). Boarding here allows you to bypass the Daehwa Station gate controls completely and enter the platform immediately.
  • Red Express Bus Alternative: If you are heading back to central Seoul and are worried about missing the last train, walk to the Daehwa Station center lane bus stop and board Bus 1000 (bound for Sungnyemun/Seoul Station). It runs late, with the last departure from its Ilsan depot at 24:10 on weekdays and 23:45 on weekends. However, note that travel time may increase if there is heavy road traffic.

Weather Tips for the Open-Air Venue#

Goyang Stadium is an open-air stadium where the roof only covers a portion of the spectator seats. You must prepare for changing weather conditions.

  • Rain Prep: Umbrellas are strictly prohibited inside the stadium seating area as they block the view of other fans. In case of rain, you must bring a raincoat. It is also useful to bring a large plastic bag to keep your personal belongings dry.
  • Temperature Fluctuations: September is a transition season in Korea, with late-summer heat during the day and chilly breezes at night. Bring a hat and bottled water for the daytime wait, and a light jacket or windbreaker to keep warm during the evening show.

FAQ

Why was the 2026 IU Goyang Concert cancelled?

The concert was cancelled due to the worsening symptoms of the artist’s chronic ear condition, patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction. Following expert medical advice that performing high-intensity, large-scale stadium shows would be too strenuous, IU and her agency, EDAM Entertainment, prioritized her recovery and made the decision to cancel the September event.

Will the cancelled concert be rescheduled, and when will tickets be sold?

There are currently no plans to reschedule the September Goyang concert or open ticket sales. IU will focus entirely on treatment and recovery. The release of her 6th regular album, which was planned in conjunction with the concert, has also been delayed by several months. Official updates will be shared by EDAM Entertainment once she recovers.

How long does it take from Seoul Station to Goyang Stadium by subway?

From Seoul Station, take Subway Line 4, transfer to Line 3 at Chungmuro Station, and travel to Daehwa Station. The entire trip takes about 60 minutes one-way, including walking time. From Daehwa Station Exit 3 to the stadium's East Gate is about a 10-minute walk (approx. 650m).

What is the last train back to Seoul after the concert?

On weekdays, the last direct trains to central Seoul (Chungmuro/Jongno area) depart Daehwa Station at 22:58 (terminating at Dogok) and 23:18 (terminating at Apgujeong, with no Line 4 transfer). On weekends and public holidays, the last train runs earlier. Given the massive crowds exiting, we advise leaving early or considering Red Bus 1000.
