How to Get from Goyang Stadium (Daehwa Station) to Seoul Station

Immediately after a major concert at Goyang Stadium, the main exit and the nearby Daehwa Station become severely congested with thousands of fans, buses, and taxis. For first-time visitors, instead of waiting in long station entrance lines, adopting a “speedy escape from the Daehwa Station area” strategy will open up much smoother transit alternatives.

Strategy 1: Walk to Juyeop Station (Line 3 Subway)#

Going straight to Daehwa Station right after the show can trap you in crowd-control queues for over 30 minutes before you even reach the ticket gates.

• How to get there: Exit Goyang Stadium via the East Gate and walk straight along the main road toward Juyeop Station for about 1.4 km (a 15～20 minute walk). The sidewalk along Ilsan Jungang-ro is wide and easy to walk.
• Boarding Tip: The Juyeop Station (주엽역) entrance on Line 3 will be significantly less crowded. Boarding the subway here allows you to bypass the bottleneck at Daehwa. Even if the train arriving from Daehwa is full, some passengers alight at Juyeop, making it easier to board.
• Transfer: Switch to Line 1 at Jongno 3-ga Station or Line 4 at Chungmuro Station to reach Seoul Station.

Strategy 2: Detour via GTX-A Kintex Station (17 min Direct)#

If you want the fastest and most comfortable return to Seoul Station, utilizing the newly opened GTX-A line (opened December 28, 2024) at Kintex Station is your best choice.

• How to get there: Head south from the stadium toward the Kintex district to reach Kintex Station. The walk is about 1.8 km (25 minutes). If local shuttle buses or regular buses (such as 55 or 88A) are operating on event day, use them to save time.
• Subway Ride: Board the GTX-A at Kintex Station (킨텍스역) to reach Seoul Station in just 16～17 minutes without any transfers.
• Pros: It is incredibly fast compared to Line 3, and it completely avoids the massive station congestion at Daehwa.

Strategy 3: Multimodal Detours (Bus + Rail Connections)#

If the Line 3 platforms are completely gridlocked or you are running close to the subway curfew, taking a rapid bus from Ilsan center lanes to cross the Han River first, then switching to the rail network, is a smart way to save time and energy.

Detour A: Bus M7731 to Hongik Univ./Gongdeok + AREX#

Board the red rapid bus M7731 from the Daehwa Station center lane bus stop.

1. Alight at Hongik University Station (홍대입구역) or Gongdeok Station (공덕역).
2. Head down to the subway station and transfer to the AREX (Airport Railroad) bound for Seoul Station.
3. This route is highly efficient because it crosses the Han River quickly via the expressway, bypassing the winding Line 3 subway route.

Detour B: Bus 1500/9707 to Yeongdeungpo + Line 1#

Board Bus 1500 or Bus 9707 from the Daehwa Station center lane bus stop.

1. Alight at the final stop, Yeongdeungpo Station (in front of Times Square).
2. Walk 3 minutes to the Yeongdeungpo Train Station and transfer to Subway Line 1 bound for Seoul Station.
3. Yeongdeungpo-bound buses are generally less crowded than those heading toward central Seoul, making it much easier to secure a seat and rest on your way back.

Detour C: Detour via Siksa-dong Wi City Depot (Bus M7119)#

If the road traffic and boarding queues around Daehwa Station and KINTEX are too long, you can travel east to the Siksa-dong depot to secure a 100% guaranteed seat.

1. From Daehwa Station or KINTEX, board local city Bus 98 (formerly town bus 039; renamed and reorganized as of May 1, 2024) and ride about 30～35 minutes to the ‘Wi City Blocks 3 & 4’ (위시티3·4단지) stop.
2. Board the Gwanghwamun/Seoul Station-bound Bus M7119 at its origin stop to sit comfortably all the way to central Seoul (Sungnyemun). (Last bus departs the Wi City depot at 23:30.)

Detour D: Detour via Paju Unjeong New Town Depot (7101 / M7111)#

Instead of heading south toward Seoul where buses are already full, travel north to the Unjeong depot first to board a Seoul-bound express bus.

1. From Daehwa Station, board local Bus 80 and head north to the ‘Sannae Maeul Blocks 6 & 8’ (산내마을6·8단지) stop in Unjeong (takes about 20～25 minutes).
2. Board Bus M7111 (to Seoul Station; last bus at 23:50) at the depot.
3. Note on destinations: If you are heading toward Hapjeong or Hongdae, Bus M7111 does not stop at Hapjeong or Hongik University. In that case, board Bus 7101 (last bus at 22:50) or Bus 3100 (last bus at 22:30) instead.
4. ⚠️ Avoid e-bikes: Sharing e-bikes are restricted by city limits. Riding a Goyang (Ilsan) e-bike and returning it in Paju (Unjeong) will result in a heavy out-of-boundary fee of about 20,000 KRW. Use Bus 80 instead.

Detour E: Local Bus (66 or 65) to Digital Media City (DMC) Station + AREX#

Avoid any Subway Line 3 delays or station entry restrictions by riding a local bus on the surface directly to Digital Media City (DMC) Station.

1. From Daehwa Station, board local city Bus 66 (Myeongseong) or Bus 65 (Seoul) (takes about 45～55 minutes to DMC).
2. Alight at Digital Media City Station, then head underground to transfer to the Airport Railroad (AREX) bound for Seoul Station.
3. This is a very strong detour that avoids subway line congestion and bypasses the Daehwa bottleneck.
4. ⚠️ Warning: Goyang city Bus 89 travels from Daehwa to Haengsin Station and does not run to Digital Media City Station. Do not board it.

Late-Night Option: Red Bus 1000#

If the show ends late and you risk missing the last Line 3 subway (departs Daehwa at 22:58 for Dogok, 23:00 for Suseo on weekdays) or need to travel around midnight, Red Bus 1000 is your best option.

• Route: Daehwa-dong ↔ Juyeop Station ↔ Ilsan Dongbu Police Station ↔ Yonsei University ↔ Gwanghwamun ↔ Sungnyemun (near Seoul Station).
• Boarding Tip: The Daehwa Station bus stop is right in front of the stadium and will have massive queues, meaning buses will often pass by full. Walk a bit further to the Juyeop Station center lane stop or Ilsan Dongbu Police Station stop to drastically increase your chances of boarding.
• Timings: The last bus departs the Ilsan depot at 24:10 on weekdays and 23:45 on weekends. It takes about an hour to reach Seoul Station.
